Dr Ashraf Abdelkafy works as a Consultant and Lecturer of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology in the Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Dept., Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt. He obtained his Basic knee surgery training in Vienna, Austria, where he spent a year working under the supervision of Prim. Univ. Doz Dr. Franz Landsiedl head of the Department no. 1 in Speising Orthopaedic Hospital.
Following this he embarked on an AO Fellowship in Tuebingen, Germany in BG Unfallklinik Tuebingen for 8 weeks 2006. After that, he got an ESSKA (European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy) Fellowship in Basel Switzerland 2008. In 2009 he got an AGA (German Speaking Arthroscopy Association) Fellowship in University of Pittsburgh, PA USA with Prof. Dr. Freddie Fu. He has had international publications published in top orthopaedic journals and in 2006 he published a new technique for arthroscopic meniscal repair. Dr Abdelkafy works in Suez Canal University Hospital and he is responsible for most of the knee surgeries in his department.
