Re: PT recommendations in Boston area?

Dr. Thomas Gill is familiar with arthrofibrosis and he has a PT in Boston right down the street from MGH that knows how to rehab.

Re: Is amputation really a solution???

Hi There, I have had arthrofibrosis for almost two years now and I am going on my 5th surgery. I have an excellent doctor in Boston at Mass General Hospital who still after all of the problems I have had with knee is still optimistic. He too said I have the worst case of arthrofibrosis he has ever s...

Second Surgery with Dr. Gill scheduled

Hi Guys, Just to give an update, I had a follow-up with Dr. Gill and he is going again to remove more scar tissue. He is doing an open procedure by making an incision on the side of the knee. He said he hasn't seen scar tissue ever grow as fast and furious as mine. I asked him why it was that I coul...

Re: Update with Dr. Gill....Not Great!

Hi Dan, Thanx for letting me know about that. I will look into getting the elite seat and see how that works. I have no desire to get another surgery. I am not happy that you are having difficulties with your quad muscle and getting it to work for extension, but it kind of makes me feel better that ...

Update with Dr. Gill....Not Great!

Hi All, I saw Dr. Gill yesterday and he was not pleased but at the same time not surprised with my progress. My ROM is still at 12-105 Active; 20-95 Passive. He doesn't believe that it is scar tissue this time blocking the knee from ROM, but that its my muscles not knowing how to work it properly. H...

Re: Is this progress or should I be discouraged?

Hi Nick, I am two weeks post op and my ROM is beginning to decline again. It is at 20-95 Passive ROM; 12-105 Active ROM. I saw Dr. Gill yesterday and he wasn't pleased but also was not surprised. My muscles have completely forgotten what to do and do not have the strength to contract on their own. S...

Re: Is this progress or should I be discouraged?

Hi Pam, Thanx for responding. Ummm....the swelling is controlled by Ice and Motrin, but it will blow up without the ice. I have only felt heat in the knee twice, once after PT and then again a couple days later before PT. I have an appointment with Dr. Gill on Wednesday so I will have more info then...

Is this progress or should I be discouraged?

Hi All, As you know, I had surgery with Dr. Gill last week to remove a lot of scar tissue from my knee. It is now 7 days later and I am still stuck at 15 extension and 105 flex. I have not made any progress at PT, I go 7 days a week, I am in the CPM for 8-10 hours a day and the rest of the time I am...

Re: Surgery with Dr. Gill scheduled for Dec 7 in Boston

Hi Guys, OK, I got the surgical report and this is what it said: After anesthesia, Dr. Gill found that my range of motion was 15 to 90. Minimal Patellar mobility. His findings included fibrosis in the suprapatellar pouch; superficial grade 2 change of the patella with grade 3 defect of the central t...

Re: Surgery with Dr. Gill scheduled for Dec 7 in Boston

Pam, I have kept the cryo cuff on 24/7 with the exception of when I am in PT. I am not feeling any heat in my knee, and the swelling is there, but it is not nearly as bad as my first two procedures. My PT is not pleased with the range of motion that I have right now. Even though I am only 2 days pos...

Re: Surgery with Dr. Gill scheduled for Dec 7 in Boston

Surgery is all done! I am in lots and lots of pain. Dr. Gill is very optimistic about my recovery. I had PT today and it was horrible! My PT was very gentle, but followed Dr. Gill's directions to a T. Dr. Gill found a lot more scar tissue than he had first thought. I read the post surgery report and...

Surgery with Dr. Gill scheduled for Dec 7 in Boston

Hi All, I haven't posted in a while because there hasn't been much to say. The knee is still the same, but hopefully that will all be gone soon. I am having surgery with Dr. Gill at Mass General Hospital on Thursday morning. I hope that this will be the beginning of a great recovery and the end of m...

Re: How Old Are You Posters?

I am 34 and was 33 when I tore my meniscus. I am a year into this problem with one scope and one MUA. I am scheduled for surgery in Boston with Dr. Gill at Mass General Hospital on Dec 7 to remove the scar tissue.

Re: Going to see Dr. Gill in Boston!

Hey Janet, I am scheduled for surgery on Dec 7. He is going in with a scope to remove as much scar tissue as he can then he said while he is in there with the camera, he is going to do a very gentle manipulation (he is not too fond of them). He is very optimistic that he will be able to help me get ...
