Re: Seeking user FormerlyActive!

Hi there MmRocker! Thats pretty exciting to see my name on the Board. Thanks! I did get a PM today from you, and I will send you an e-mail as well. I am glad to help in any way that I can. Many on KG have helped me. In fact someone from KG very special this week sent me some chocolate truffles. But ...

Re: Derotational Osteotomy + TTT - 10/20/2009

Sorry Crankerchick one other thing - do you know how long he has been using the tomofix plate for the derotations? when I look it up online it appears it is relatively new? But highly used for the high osteotomies. If you look at the picture of it you can see why they don't take it out. It seems to ...

Re: Derotational Osteotomy + TTT - 10/20/2009

Dear Crankerchick - that is VERY interesting about your feet. My measurements are similar to yours but my feet go out at 45 degrees. However you are right the ankle adapts, I have a bone that slips under when I walk apparently. When your feet are together do you have a big space between your legs? D...

If you have external tibial torsion don't your feet go out to the side? Take a before picture and send to us if you don't mind (or just keep for yourself you will be glad to compare to the after). Best wishes.

Re: Femoral & Tibial Osteotomies

Hi Crankerchick I sent you a PM but then just found this post. Are they really going to derotate your femur externally and your tibia internally at the same time? Dr. T. doesn't recommend this as he says the femur you do first then you see what the impact is on the tibia - I am summarizing however h...

Re: CONUNDRUM: 3 Top Knee Specialists... 3 Different Opinions!

This is a really good discussion. Unfortunately if someone has a hammer everything looks like a nail. I don't know if it is ego or their medical practice that doesn't let them say - I don't know if I can help you can I refer to you to someone who can? Its so hard as a patient because you have to dia...

Re: Lyndsey's 2nd Derotation Diary

Dear Lyndsey Sorry to hear of the confirmed hip bursitis diagnosis. That has got to be really painful. Was Dr. T. at all impressed you diagnosed it yourself (and the IT band issue). You are are a KG Doctor nearly! Seriously bursitis I know can be very very irritating, its good he gave the shot to ca...

Re: Anyone Had A Normal MRI Scan But Had A Scope To See Whats Causing The Problems!

I would have an arthrogram done if its an option. It shows different details than MRI, in my case it showed much more. They do lot of xrays, then inject the dye, then do xrays again. I had some kind of double CT arthrogram which is supposed to be more accurate (sorry I'm not explaining it well, I do...

From the internet: "Chondrosis, also called chondromalacia, is a softening or loss of smooth cartilage, most frequently that which covers the back of the kneecap. The softened cartilage may cause pain whenever pressure is applied to the underside of the kneecap during activities such as kneelin...

Re: (de)Rotational Osteotomy post-op road map

Somehow I just found this post. KG is so big! I love the idea of a road map, especially for those of us considering surgery. For the more common procedures like knee replacement, the doctors seem to have brochures. But I think these surgeries are more rare, as evidenced by the few doctors who do the...

Re: Rotational Osteotomy #3 Post Op Diary :)

Hi Alyce Have you tried lying on your bed or floor, and putting your legs straight up on the wall (i.e. your body is almost 90)? My sister who was a nurse had me do that for at least 15 mins per day after all my other sugeries. I wonder if that might help if you tried it? In terms of meds is there a...

Re: 2 days post bilateral arthroscopy - plica resection

Yes I had this surgery in the 80s, both knees same time. Took me long time to recover as I had atrophied during the YEAR it took the various docs to diagnose. Same thing, telling me I had chondromalacia, maltracking, patellar tendonitis, etc. The surgery helped as they removed the torn and broken up...
