Re: anyone had a synovectomy?
Just a little note. I have had four arthroscopic knee surgeries in the last year, synvectomies being a part of at least two of them. I came through the surgeries very well, but inflammation kept coming back and I was worse a month after the surgeries than I was 3 days after the surgeries. I finally ...

Re: When are injections indicated?
You need to talk to your doctor. Generally they try NSAIDS first, then injections for joint pain and inflammation. Generally injections are short term solutions that just take care of the symptoms of a problem.

Re: Lateral Release success
I think in many cases (I'm sure in mine) it is done simply to relieve pressure and inflammation. As in yours where it is part of a whole plan of attack, It may very well be the best initial plan. Hopefully, it will be all you will need done again. :) My knees feel more normal than they have in years...

Re: having a very bad week!
Between working 8 hours a day and going to schoo, for 7 hours i never have time to just rest. Sorry for venting rigth now and going off on a tangent here. Well hope everyone else is feeling good! Lauren Maybe that is part of the problem, you just need to slow down a little :-\. The combination of m...

Re: Why is my OS so against TTT surgery?
Thanks JimB and Cari, I trust my OS enough to know that if he were not confident in his ability to do a TTT he'd make arrangements to send me elsewhere. I know this isnt something to be rushed into, I just wonder why so many Os's are doing these things and mine just won't consider it... maybe cause...

Re: Need objective opinions
It is a very difficult decision that's fer sure. The transplant my OS is talking about is an "open" procedure and not a scope. At first I thought it was the procedure where he takes some of my own and they grow it in a lab then put the new stuff back in but it's not. Aparently with the ca...

Re: Need objective opinions
Thats the problem when those of us in our '40s have problems like these. Our bodies don't heal like they used to, and doctors don't want to do procedures that are normally reserved for those a little older than us. We are in kind of a "twilight zone".

Re: Need objective opinions
I have thought long and hard about this, and it really boils down to what you want and if you feel comfortable with your OS. If you are leaning towards PKR, I would research the device thoroughly as many had a high failure rate and some are not well proven yet. Good Luck!!

Re: So frustrated!!!
If you have any doubts about your PT, dump him or her. Take it from experience. DON'T waste your time and money on someone who is only hurting you more. If you are not comfortable with the PTs available locally, here is a program that I believed helped me more than the first three PTs I went to; htt...

Re: Looking for advice (nervous & scared)
FWIW I agree you should trust your OS, but if you have any doubts get a second opinion, and maybe a second or third. The first OS I saw recommended a patellectomy and TTT. While I "may" ultimately end up with a TTT, I am glad I never got, and never will get, a patellectomy. Maybe I will no...

Re: Lateral Release success
After consideration of other posts, I have changed my vote. I agree a LR might be done, but should be done as part of a total solution. My first doctor did a partial LR on my right knee along with removing some plica. He then did a full LR on my left knee. My second OS finished the LR on my right kn...

Re: lateral release experts, please reply
IMO if nothing else, he should have given you some conservative exercises to do at home. I remember about 12 years ago I had tendonitis surgery on my elbow. When I went in for post-op with my OS after two weeks, my elbow was stiff as a board. My OS got kind of cross and said I should have been exerc...

Lateral Release success
I received partial relief from LR and don't regret doing it at the time, but am still looking for a return to a modestly pain-free lifestyle. I was wondering as to the experiences of others.
