Re: "Arthrofibrosis Specialists"

I am approaching my 42nd birthday. No plans to check out soon and I will never adjust to being disabled. I used to race bicycles for fun... I will read and consider what you have told me here. Again, thank you. I can have my latest op notes and surgery videos mailed to you at some point if you reall...

Re: "Arthrofibrosis Specialists"

Dr. Sanders, Again, I meant no disrespect. I don't believe that Dr. Steadman thought that he had done all that he could do arthroscopically. He had told me that my condition would require many procedures but that eventually I would have a functional knee. He was also concerned that due to a previous...

Re: "Arthrofibrosis Specialists"

I'm aware that post operative infection is rare in arthroscopic procedures. I wish it were as easy as you just made it sound. Forgive me... it's not that I don't have faith in you or that I don't admire your confidence. Not sure if your last comments were steeped in sarcasm with regards to Dr. Stead...

Re: "Arthrofibrosis Specialists"

I did not have acl surgery. My original surgery was for a meniscal tear. Post operative staph infection. My range of motion under anesthesia has been steadily about 5-85... I don't actively get that much rom. Let's just say that I don't have much at all. I know that you are an acl guy so maybe you c...

Re: "Arthrofibrosis Specialists"

Dr. Mark, Having been to see Dr. Steadman twice and now Dr. Gill, I personally am wondering if some people with this condition are beyond help so to speak. You mention (and I don't think anyone would refute this) that prevention is the key to this condition. With all due respect, I hate hearing that...

Re: "Arthrofibrosis Specialists"

Jeff, I'm 9 days out from surgery with Dr. Gill in Boston. I will tell you that I personally liked Dr. Gill and Dr. Robertson (his fellow) and they were very upfront with me about my situation. I'm fairly seasoned so I already knew what I was up against. I hated Mass General and the post operative c...

Re: septic arthritis?

Septic arthritis is just another way of saying that you had infection in a joint . . . I doubt that you just got the infection from your skin although who really knows?? Staph does indeed live on the skin but it is a very rare thing to get an infection after an arthroscopic procedure. It's likely th...

Re: septic arthritis?

Yep . . . I've heard of it! How did you get the infection? Haven't read your posts as I haven't been on for a long time. Where are you from?

Re: Another attempt #7

Dan,
Haven't been on KG for a while . . . too discouraging for me right now. I hope things continue to improve for you. I just received my surgery DVD from Steadman-Hawkins from the Sept surgery. Tough to watch . . .

Re: Next round - Sept 8

Pam + Mary,
I did have some massage therapy this morning and it no doubt makes my quad feel better (temporarily) . . . I will keep at it. My knee feels as bad as it has ever felt at this point! Very inflammed! Home to JAS and then back to PT for a bit . . .

Re: Next round - Sept 8

Back home last night! Another tough visit to Vail and some initial disappointment! 10 days out and no real change. I guess I'm not sure what to do at this point. Dr. Steadman was able to get me to 85 degrees of flexion in the OR (second try . . . same result!) I guess there is a contracture of the q...
