Chronic Patellar Tendonitis?

Post by JakeDean »

Hello, I am 24 and have had chronic knee trouble since I was about 15, I sprained both knees a couple times each over the course of a couple of years and had a lot of trouble with lateral stability. At 22 I finally decided that the pain was too much and scheduled an appointment with a specialist andhad an MRI done on both knees and the radiologist report said I had a lateral tear of both patellar tendons and significant edema in the fat pads surrounding. The ortho I went to said it was not a tear, rather a chronic case of patellar tendonitis . He described it to me as a degenerative tissue about the size of a peanut m&m in the center of my patellar tendon effecting 80% of the thickness of my tendons. He recommended surgery to remove the tissue and allow scar tissue to replace the void. So I agreed to the surgery and had both knees done at once. Thee surgery went smooth from his account and the physical therapy I did was fairly light. Now over a year and a half out from the surgery I have more pain in the tendon then I did before, is this common? Is it a result of poor PT? Any help or insight taken, thanks.

Had same symptoms and had a tibial osteotomy and the pain in my tendon has now gone - worth looking into.
