is the JAS brace worth the money?

How is the brace functionally different to just putting 20 lbs on your thigh and propping your heel up?

Vickster, it's a 'static hold brace' that helps people with contracture (extension deficit) gradually elongate the soft tissue in the knee to regain extension. There are some studies on pubmed that say it is effective even in cases of established contracture. There are quite a few kneeguru threads about the JAS brace vs. Dynasplint (another similar device). Here's a video of the JAS device.

I went ahead and ordered it through my Dr's office because my insurer actually covered a good chunk of the price. I'll start a progress thread about it when they deliver it to me, for anyone interested.

It's encouraging to hear that insurers are covering a portion of the cost. Looking forward to hearing about your progress with it
