Graft versus host

Written by Dr Sheila Strover on March 14, 2025

A graft versus host reaction is when a transplant reacts against the host, and the person becomes unwell as a result.

The knee may be the site of a reaction to any allograft the patient may have received.

Reported joint/fascia manifestations include joint stiffness, edema, restricted range of motion (ROM), arthralgia and rarely arthritis or synovitis.
