Orthotics

Written by Dr Sheila Strover on March 14, 2025

Orthotics is the discipline of improving gait or leg stability with external devices such as shoe inserts or knee braces.

Correction of the biomechanics of the foot and ankle, for example, can improve the stability of the patella at the knee.

Usually a technician is required to assess which orthotic will be best for any particular patient.
