A medical publication that has passed 'peer review' is one that has been carefully evaluated by other doctors who are expert in the same field.

How the medical profession polices itself

Before a paper is accepted for publication in a rcognised medical journal, several copies of it will be sent to other experts to check that the concepts are valid and that the methods of investigation are robust.

Every paper that is published will list the other publications that have influenced the author/s.
