Dr Thomas Smallman is a knee surgeon with a military background, and his work has extensively involved the management of patients with pain in the front of the knee.
In this course Dr Smallman explains how his clinical experience and subsequent research has led him to point a finger at a structure in the knee - the infrapatellar plica - as a potential cause of anterior knee pain, and he highlights its generally unappreciated intimate functional relationship to the infrapatellar fat pad.
