Paste graft

Written by Dr Sheila Strover on March 14, 2025

A paste graft is a technique of cartilage repair, using cartilage and bone from a less important part of the knee joint and which has been ground up ('morcelised') and packed into the cartilage defect.

Stem cells

The principle is that 'stem cells' within the paste graft will multiply and heal the defect.

Full-thickness articular cartilage loss can be successfully treated, reducing pain, and improving function, using this single-step, inexpensive arthroscopic procedure.
