Lie flat on your stomach with head supported on folded arms.

Slowly lift one leg and hold the position for a few seconds. Slowly lower it and repeat with the other leg.

Why is hip extension important in knee rehabilitation?

Limping in a slightly crouched position is common with knee problems, and can cause problems with later hip extension.

The hip and lower back are often neglected in knee rehabilitation, but they are help to improve gait and stability of the knee.

What muscles are exercised during hip extension exercises?

The main muscles involved in hip extension are the 'glutes' and the hamstrings muscles.
